Boasting a vast collection of 20,000 items, the Musée L ventures into a world of unusual encounters to explore the world and humanity. And works of art aren't the only things on display: the museum also presents scientific collections from the Louvain Catholic University.
Set inside one of Belgium's foremost contemporary architectural landmarks, the museum's 2,600 m² exhibition space showcases natural history specimens, archaeological finds, ethnographic objects and scientific inventions.

Dès la Renaissance, la grille, en tant que modèle d‘organisation de l’espace, a joué un rôle fondamental dans l’art occidental. Mais c’est au cours du XXème siècle qu’elle devient une forme artistique à part entière, permettant aux peintres modernes d’affirmer le caractère autonome et universel de l’art.
Depuis les années 1960, les usages se sont multipliés : trame textile, quadrillage graphique, support matériel, système typologique, cadre spatio-temporel, matrice informatique, dispositif narratif et documentaire – la grille se révèle comme une structure complexe et ambiguë qui évoque l’ordre rationnel de la science tout en ouvrant des espaces insoupçonnés vers l’imagination, l’intuition et la créativité.
