The House of Metallurgy and Industry of Liège (MMIL) introduces to the steel and industrial heritage in a real old factory dating back to 1845.
The MMIL invites you to discover 2 500 m² of industrial history in Liège, from yesterday to today. With a visit, you will travel through time and will be introduced to great names of Liège's industry such as Zénobe Gramme or John Cockerill.
Come and discover the oldest blast furnace in the country (1693), authentic maka’s, the oldest rolling mill in the world, the stories around Marly's machine or Napoleon's zinc bath.
And John Cockerill, father of the steel manufacturing in the factories of Liège.
Energies are taken into account: from hydraulic energy to electricity, with gas and oil. Do not miss it: a real steam engine from 1840, the combustion engine, the dynamo of Zénobe Gramme and many other collections.
With its temporary exhibitions, the MMIL displays collections usually kept in its reserves. For a defined period of time, these collections shed new light on specific themes, in line with the museum's missions.
