THE NATURAL SCIENCES INSTITUTE: A GREAT DAY OUT, NATURALLY!
- The Earth is swarming with life - rediscover it in our new Gallery, Living Planet, through an aesthetic, family-friendly and scientific approach to biodiversity;
- Meet the famous Bernissart Iguanodons, T.rex, Triceratops, Diplodocus, and 34 other species, including a NEW Plateosaurus fossil since December 2017, in the largest Dinosaur Gallery in Europe;
- Learn about the human body and how we evolved in the Gallery of Humankind and go back in time in the Gallery of Evolution.
- You can also find out about urban species in BiodiverCITY, discover specimens which illustrate the Museum’s history in the 250 Years of Natural Sciences hall, beware of the kings of the Cretaceous seas in the Mosasaur Hall, admire the magnificent crystals in the Mineral Hall, and take part in one of our Education Service’s interactive activities.

Une grande occasion de se sentir tout petit Ils ont tous vécu sur Terre après les dinosaures. Les connaissez-vous ? Il y a 66 millions d’années, l’impact d’une météorite provoquait l’extinction d’innombrables espèces animales : dinosaures, plésiosaures, mosasaures, etc. Une chance pour certains petits animaux qui, jusqu’alors, avaient vécu dans l’ombre des grands ! Ils se diversifient et certains d’entre eux grandissent parfois jusqu’à atteindre des tailles gigantesques. GIANTS vous invite à un voyage dans le temps, du Paléogène au Quaternaire. Rencontrez-y onze animaux aux dimensions spectaculaires comme Otodus megalodon, le plus puissant des requins de tous les temps, et Gigantopithecus blacki, le singe asiatique dont la taille équivaut à trois orangs-outangs. Admirez 6 représentations animales 3D à taille réelle et 5 squelettes (presque) complets, et tel un paléontologue, menez vos propres recherches avec les interactifs et images multimédias. Explorez la vie de ces géants. Qui sont-ils ? Quels avantages leur procurait leur grande taille ? Quelles sont les raisons de leur extinction ? D’autres géants les ont remplacés depuis… mais pour combien de temps encore ? Une exposition pour un public familial et scolaire à partir de 9 ans
