From the Roman conquests to the two world wars, through the Viking invasions, the Battle of the Golden Spurs, the Burgundian expansion and the revolt of the Netherlands, the wars of Louis XIV and Napoleon: Belgium was for 2,000 years the battlefield of Europe.
